Researcher in the Wild

You may be wondering, how will I know you when I see you?

(art by KayCatsArt)

Well, I'm not always supposed to be seen as one of the big parts of my project is doing ethnographic note taking which involves sitting back and observing without being intrusive or bothering anyone. I just want to observe the festival in action, take note of the settings, the venues, and how people navigate the spaces as well as looking for accessibility features within the festival events. Some things you may see me scribbling in my notes about are lift access, sensory rooms, people/staff available to help wayfind, accessible loos, ramps into buildings, interpreters, and more!

I won't come up and ask you a question but because I know it may be off putting to see someone wandering around and taking notes, you can find me by a lanyard that proclaims I'm a researcher. I've done this so that if YOU have questions you can come to me. I won't discuss our conversations in my research, but if you're curious, I'm always happy to chat with you and of course give you links to my project so you can let me know of ways I can do better or so you can participate further.

My friends have also helpfully pointed out that my assistance dog is also a dead giveaway that it's me but please don't talk to him as he knows very little about the resarch and needs to focus on his job. (He only knows about things like bacon, cheese, and peanut butter).
